Wildfire Spreads in Goseong, Gangwon...Evacuation Order for Residents and Level 2 Fire Response

A wildfire broke out in Inheung-ri, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon Province, prompting the fire authorities to begin firefighting operations.

At around 7:22 p.m. on the 22nd, a wildfire broke out in Inheung-ri, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon Province, and flames are spreading. Yonhap News

On the 22nd, at around 7:34 p.m., the fire authorities issued Response Level 1, which mobilizes all personnel of the responsible fire station. This was followed by Response Level 2 at around 8:32 p.m., which mobilizes neighboring fire stations as well.

Currently, Goseong and other parts of the East Coast are experiencing strong winds with instantaneous speeds exceeding 90 km/h. A strong wind warning and a dry weather advisory have been issued for Goseong and other East Coast areas.

Fanned by the strong winds, the flames spread, and Goseong-gun urged residents of Inheung-ri 1-ri to 3-ri to evacuate to the Toseong-myeon Administrative Welfare Center. Some residents are reportedly taking refuge in nearby resorts and lodging facilities.
