The meeting was attended by Vice Mayor Kim Jonghun and the heads of relevant departments, including livestock, environment, roads, and safety. They shared information on how the outbreak occurred and the disease control measures taken so far, and reviewed response plans to prevent further spread.

Judging that the speed of the initial response and securing on-site control are of paramount importance, the city immediately implemented step-by-step measures in accordance with the quarantine manual.

For the farm where avian influenza occurred, Pocheon City has completed access control and culling measures in accordance with the Act on the Prevention of Contagious Animal Diseases, and is also carrying out preventive culling at two poultry farms located within a 500-meter radius of the affected farm.

In addition, Pocheon City has urgently provided 1,000 liters of disinfectant, 2,870 kilograms of immune enhancers, 410 kilograms of rodenticides, and 35,280 kilograms of quicklime to 41 poultry farms within the quarantine zone (within a 10-kilometer radius of the affected farm). The city is also expanding the operation of 21 control posts, focusing on five base disinfection facilities, layer farms with more than 100,000 birds, and densely concentrated farm complexes. Furthermore, it has designated dedicated officers to conduct telephone monitoring of poultry farms, provide guidance on quarantine rules, and inspect disinfection practices, thereby taking multifaceted measures to prevent the spread of the disease.

An official from Pocheon City said, "Since highly pathogenic avian influenza is a disease that spreads very quickly, the success or failure of quarantine depends on the initial response," adding, "We will mobilize all administrative resources to prevent additional cases and minimize damage to farms."

The official continued, "We earnestly ask poultry farms to strictly comply with basic quarantine rules, such as restricting access by outsiders, thoroughly disinfecting both inside and outside the farm, and immediately reporting any suspected symptoms."

Pocheon City plans to maintain a 24-hour emergency quarantine system until the situation is resolved, while working closely with relevant agencies to make every effort to prevent further spread.
