First Training Program for Deaf Docents...Leading an Inclusive, Barrier-Free Exhibition Environment

Natural Monument Center Launches Age-Specific Customized Education Programs

The Korea Heritage Service announced on the 23rd that it will offer customized natural heritage education programs for all generations and people with disabilities at the Natural Monument Center in Daejeon.

The basic curriculum has been carefully refined to reflect the characteristics of each age group. At the forefront are programs such as the "Knowledge Map," in which university students majoring in related fields are exclusively in charge of elementary school students, and docent programs where middle-aged adults and children provide explanations tailored to visitors' perspectives.

During this summer vacation and next winter vacation, the agency will also operate an "Elementary School Student Natural Heritage Class" linked to the school curriculum to foster future-generation researchers. In addition, it will expand the social benefits of natural heritage through a "Value Sharing Program" that directly visits underserved areas.

The Korea Heritage Service will also carry out a "Natural Heritage Sign-Language Interpretation Volunteer Program" to support social participation by vulnerable groups. In cooperation with the Daejeon Municipal Sign Language Welfare Center, it will directly train deaf natural heritage interpreters. They will be deployed to actual exhibition interpretation sites to remove barriers to viewing for people with hearing impairments and to provide a practical stepping stone for their social advancement.

Detailed schedules and participation methods will be announced sequentially on the Natural Monument Center website. An official from the Korea Heritage Service said, "We will continue to advance our exhibition and education systems so that everyone can intuitively understand and enjoy natural heritage."
