Sangju City Shares Success of Dried Persimmon Festival to Foster Local Talent

Donates 2 Million Won in Scholarships to the Sangju Scholarship Foundation

Sangju City in North Gyeongsang Province announced that on the 19th, Moon Changsu, representative of “Noeumsan Yetnal Halmae Gotgam,” a participating company in the festival, visited Sangju City Hall and donated a 2 million won scholarship to foster local talent.

This donation was made with the intention of returning part of the profits earned from the Sangju Dried Persimmon Festival, which successfully concluded in January, to the local community.

During the festival, Representative Moon Changsu presented high-quality dried persimmons, receiving an enthusiastic response from visitors.

The scholarship delivered that day was donated to the Sangju Scholarship Foundation and will be used to support local students who are devoted to their studies despite difficult circumstances.

Kang Youngseok, Mayor of Sangju, said, "The Sangju Dried Persimmon Festival not only helps revitalize the local economy but also contributes to spreading a culture of sharing. I would like to thank Mr. Moon Changsu for his donation, which will be a great support to the students who will lead Sangju's future."

Moon Changsu, representative of Noeumsan Yetnal Halmae Gotgam, said, "Thanks to the support of Sangju citizens, we were able to successfully conclude the festival," adding, "I am pleased to be able to return the love we received from the region to local talent."

Meanwhile, the “2026 Sangju Dried Persimmon Festival,” held from January 23 to 25 for three days at Taepyeongseongdae Gyeongsang Gamyeong Park and its surrounding area, solidified its status as a leading local festival by earning praise from visitors from all over the country through a variety of hands-on programs and abundant sales events.
