Sangmyung University Vice President Choi Eunjeong Attends Opening Ceremony of Eunpyeong-gu Onbit

Expectations for Stronger Future-Education Cooperation and Local Community Linkages

Sangmyung University has been commissioned to operate the Eunpyeong-gu Future Education Center "Onbit," newly opened by the Eunpyeong-gu District Office, and is now fully launching efforts to strengthen future education for local youth. Choi Eunjeong, Vice President for Industry-Academia Cooperation, attended the opening ceremony held on the 11th at the Vision Hall of the Eunpyeong-gu Future Education Center to celebrate the start of this new partnership.

Since signing a work agreement in 2015, Sangmyung University and the Eunpyeong-gu District Office have continued cooperative education initiatives for 10 years, centered on the Lifelong Learning Center program "Eunsang Program." Various academic departments in music, fine arts, physical education, and education, as well as project groups in software, employment, and bio fields, have taken part. The university’s commissioned operation of the Future Education Center is seen as a turning point that further expands the scope of this collaboration.

Sangmyung University plans to actively share its research and educational capabilities, along with its lifelong education expertise, so that the Future Education Center can go beyond being a simple experience space and establish itself as a "future-oriented education platform" where young people can develop core future competencies and connect them to career paths and higher education.

Sangmyung University is currently pursuing a future-creative college model, the "Future-Creative University," specialized in Human AI and content technology, and is promoting advanced convergence education centered on its AI Innovation Project Group, Robotics Project Group, and Bio Project Group. Through content-technology convergence majors such as Digital Comics and Visuals, Animation, Game, AI Media Content, AR/VR Media Design, and New Media Music, the university is also focusing on nurturing creative convergence talent who will lead future industries.

At the opening ceremony, Vice President for Industry-Academia Cooperation Choi Eunjeong said, "We will actively share the university’s educational and research capabilities so that the Eunpyeong-gu Future Education Center can grow into a leading youth learning model representing Eunpyeong and into an industry-academia-government cooperation case that attracts nationwide attention."

Sangmyung University and the Eunpyeong-gu District Office plan to continue building a future education ecosystem that grows together with the local community through close cooperation.
