Gyeonggi Province to Promote "Integrated Care Cities" in Four Areas Including Gwangmyeong...Infrastructure to Be Established in First Half of This Year

Gyeonggi Province has designated the cities of Hwaseong, Gwangmyeong, and Anseong, as well as Yangpyeong County, as "Integrated Care Cities" and will establish five key infrastructures linking medical care, long-term care, and housing within the first half of this year.

This project is a measure to build a "Gyeonggi-style integrated care model" tailored to the demographic structure and characteristics of each region, ahead of the enforcement in March of the "Act on Integrated Support for Community Care Including Medical Care and Long-term Care."

Gyeonggi Province will invest a total of 6.4 billion won in this project, including provincial and municipal/county funds.

The "Act on Integrated Support for Community Care Including Medical Care and Long-term Care" is a system that bundles and provides support so that people in need of care, such as older adults and persons with disabilities, can receive the necessary services while continuing to live where they have been residing.

For example, the idea is to enable people who find daily life difficult due to frailty, disability, illness, or accidents to receive integrated medical care, long-term care, and support in their own homes and neighborhoods, without having to go to hospitals or facilities.

To build this integrated care system, Gyeonggi Province plans to provide five key infrastructures in the Integrated Care Cities.

The five infrastructures are: ▲ Our Neighborhood Visiting Primary Care for Integrated Care ▲ One-Stop Nursing and Long-term Care Package ▲ Daily Life Recovery Care Home ▲ Daily Life Recovery Treatment Station ▲ AIP (Aging In Place) Coordinator.

Our Neighborhood Visiting Primary Care for Integrated Care is a program in which doctors and nurses from local clinics, together with social workers, physical therapists, and dental hygienists, form a team and visit patients at home to provide medical treatment and manage their health, targeting patients who have difficulty visiting hospitals due to mobility issues.

The One-Stop Nursing and Long-term Care Package allows a single institution to bundle and provide the necessary services at once, so there is no need to apply separately for visiting nursing and visiting long-term care.

The Daily Life Recovery Care Home supports people who have been discharged after surgery due to accidents or illness but find it difficult to live alone at home immediately, by allowing them to stay for a certain period in a safe residential space "between hospital and home" where they receive adaptation training for returning to daily life.

The Daily Life Recovery Treatment Station is a program that helps patients discharged from major hospitals achieve stable recovery by providing intensive physical therapy or rehabilitation services for up to three months at local hospitals near their homes.

The AIP (Aging In Place) Coordinator is a dedicated manager who proactively identifies people in need of care, designs customized welfare and medical services precisely tailored to each individual’s circumstances, and follows through until the end.

Earlier, Gyeonggi Province selected the four cities and counties through an open call held from January 15 to 30.

Geum Cheolwan, Director General of Welfare at Gyeonggi Province, said, "This Integrated Care City project will go beyond simply providing services and become the driving force that most successfully establishes the new administration’s national agenda of 'integrated care enjoyed where you currently live.' The province and the cities and counties will work together as one engine to realize tangible welfare innovation that residents can feel wherever they are."
