Yeonggwang County in South Jeolla Province will substantially expand its “Home-Visit Medical Care Service Support Project,” based on the Yeonggwang-style integrated care model, in order to improve medical access for vulnerable groups who have difficulty visiting medical institutions and to establish a community-based integrated care system.

This project will be carried out in cooperation with the Yeonggwang County Medical Association, in connection with 17 local clinics that participated in the 2026 pilot project for primary medical home-visit fees. The core of the project is to provide visiting medical services to residents who need treatment due to illness or injury but have difficulty using medical institutions because of limited mobility.

In particular, as Yeonggwang County takes part in this year’s pilot project for integrated medical and care support for persons with disabilities, it plans to expand the support target from the existing focus on older adults with limited mobility to include persons under 65 years of age with severe physical or brain lesions disabilities, thereby providing a broader range of medical care services.

The main support includes: ▲ at least one home-visit medical examination and health check per month ▲ provision of medical services such as medication management and pressure ulcer care ▲ care counseling and linkage to community resources ▲ continuous support for health-status monitoring.

In addition, through an integrated support system in which medical services and care are organically connected, the county will support beneficiaries in maintaining their health and returning to daily life.

Through this initiative, Yeonggwang County expects to prevent institutionalization, help vulnerable groups continue to live independently within the community, and at the same time minimize gaps in medical and care services, thereby contributing to improving the quality of life of county residents.

An official from Yeonggwang County said, “For older adults with limited mobility and persons with severe disabilities, home-visit medical treatment and care services are essential support for maintaining health and recovering function,” adding, “We will continue to actively promote the establishment of a dense care safety net so that residents can lead healthy and vibrant lives in the places where they have been living.”
