Reading the Holiday Crowd Flows... A Time- and Space-Tailored Disinfection Network

Reducing On-Site Discomfort, Expanding Participation

Uiseong County is launching a special quarantine system in earnest to proactively block the potential spread of infectious diseases ahead of the large-scale population movement for the holiday homecoming. The aim is to create a "safe stay environment" even amid the sharp increase in floating population during the holiday period.

The county announced that, with the public health center as the control tower, it will designate an intensive management period covering the days before and after the holiday, and carry out targeted disinfection across all 18 towns and townships, reflecting the characteristics of each facility and local movement patterns.

This measure will be implemented over a total of six days, divided into pre- and post-holiday periods. Taking daytime temperature conditions into account, the work will be conducted during time slots that maximize quarantine efficiency, with the strategy of maximizing the effectiveness of the disinfectants.

Key targets include traditional markets and passenger facilities where many people stay, as well as everyday spaces closely connected to residents' lives such as government offices, public health clinics, and public restrooms. Indoors, spray disinfection will focus on high-touch areas, while outdoors and on local roads, vehicle-based disinfection using ultra-fine mist equipment will be carried out in parallel.

Personnel will be deployed by zone. The structure is designed to avoid overlapping routes while leaving no gaps. The disinfectants used will be products that minimize impact on both human health and the environment.

To reduce inconvenience to residents caused by the operation of quarantine vehicles, prior notices will be provided, and careful guidance will be given to ensure that disinfectant does not come into direct contact with vehicles, livestock barns, and similar facilities. The operation goes beyond simple work and is focused on administration that residents can tangibly feel. At the same time, the county plans to promote basic preventive rules such as handwashing and cough etiquette, in order to spread a culture of voluntary participation among residents.

County Governor Kim Jusu stressed, "The more people are on the move, the more the intensity of our preparation determines the outcome," adding, "We will make every effort to create an environment in which both visitors and residents can feel at ease."

The scenery of the holiday is ultimately completed on the foundation of safety. Attention is turning to whether the county's meticulous response will help make the steps of homecoming visitors that much lighter.
