Seo-gu District in Gwangju Metropolitan City will operate a "non-stop administrative service" during the Lunar New Year holiday to stay close to residents without any administrative downtime.

From February 14 to 18, Seo-gu will operate an emergency response system across welfare, transportation, environment, disaster and safety, and civil affairs, centered on a "24-hour General Situation Room." The district plans to ensure seamless administration so that no inconvenience in daily life or safety gaps arise during the holiday period.

In the welfare sector, the district will maintain a constant support system for vulnerable groups who need care during the holiday. It will check in on them by phone and in person before and after the holiday, and during the holiday it will operate a "24-hour Safe Care" service that links a 24-hour safety call center, on-site safety response, and care support, along with a mobile safety care service, to minimize any care gaps. In addition, on February 16 and 18, it will operate Cheonwon Guksi restaurants in Kumho 1-dong and Hwajeong 1-dong for residents at risk of missing meals.

In the transportation sector, the district will conduct constant monitoring and crackdowns on illegal parking and stopping, focusing on areas expected to be congested such as Gwangcheon Bus Terminal and large discount stores. Around Yangdong Traditional Market and Seobu Market, parking enforcement on surrounding roads will be temporarily suspended to improve user convenience, while intensive enforcement will continue for the six types of no-parking/no-stopping safety zones and for double parking where safety must be ensured.

In the environmental sector, the district will maintain a clean urban environment through large-scale cleanups before and after the holiday, special shifts for street cleaners, and expanded operation of street sweepers. Household waste will be collected as usual on all days except February 17 and 18.

In the disaster and safety sector, the district will maintain an emergency response system to prepare for weather-related disasters such as heavy snowfall and cold waves, as well as various accidents. It will operate a wildfire prevention situation room and strengthen patrols in forest-adjacent areas and on hiking trails, focusing on preventive safety management. Earlier, Seo-gu completed pre-holiday inspections of multi-use facilities, traditional markets, construction sites, and road lighting facilities to thoroughly prevent safety accidents during the holiday period.

To minimize inconvenience to residents during the holiday, Seo-gu will keep 22 unmanned civil document issuance machines in normal operation and run the 365 Civil Service Center, located on the first floor of Lotte Mart Max in the Sangmu District, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Seo-gu District Mayor Kim Ikang said, "We will ensure that anyone can enjoy a safe and comfortable holiday by implementing uninterrupted administration in all areas directly connected to residents' daily lives, including care, safety, daily services, and civil affairs."
