Gyeonggi Province will establish additional housing welfare centers in Uijeongbu, Guri, and Osan by the end of this year.
Gyeonggi Province is currently operating regional housing welfare centers in 26 cities and counties, including Suwon. With the addition of three more locations, the total number of housing welfare centers will increase to 29.
Housing welfare centers serve as counseling hubs for housing welfare policies for people who are vulnerable in terms of housing and for low-income households. They provide guidance on a wide range of housing welfare policies promoted by the central government and the province, offer recommendations on tailored housing welfare programs, and support applications for public rental housing, among other services, so that people struggling with housing issues can find various solutions. For residents who have difficulty visiting a housing welfare center in person, Gyeonggi Province also offers on-site counseling in cooperation with Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH).
People who are facing difficulties due to jeonse fraud can also receive assistance by visiting a housing welfare center. In Gyeonggi Province, for jeonse fraud victim housing that requires urgent facility repairs, the province provides up to 20 million won in construction costs. Eligible properties are jeonse fraud victim homes where securing safety and restoring damage is urgent, but the landlord cannot be located or has completely lost contact.
Housing welfare centers also provide an "Emergency Living Expense Support" program that offers 1 million won in living expenses per household to jeonse fraud victim households, and moving cost support of up to 1.5 million won per household for jeonse fraud victims who are eligible for emergency housing support and relocate to a new home.

The province is also implementing the "Child Housing Clean Service Housing Support" program, which provides disinfection and pest control, wallpaper and flooring replacement, and support for heating and cooling equipment for low-income households with children who live in substandard housing that does not meet minimum housing standards or in poor environments such as semi-basement or rooftop rooms.
In addition, Gyeonggi Province is providing major housing welfare services such as "Housing Welfare Education for Children and Youth Preparing for Independence," which offers information on public rental housing and housing welfare policies to young people preparing for independent living.
Kim Taesoo, Head of the Housing Policy Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Gyeonggi Province is implementing many housing welfare policies, but many residents are unable to receive assistance simply because they are not aware of them," and urged, "If you are struggling with housing problems, it is advisable to visit the housing welfare center near your home and check whether you can receive the help you need."
Gyeonggi Province provides information on the services offered by housing welfare centers and also accepts applications through the Gyeonggi Housing Welfare Portal (housing.gg.go.kr).
On the portal, residents can find information on public rental housing in the province and announcements for tenant recruitment, as well as guidance on various housing finance and housing cost support programs such as interest support for jeonse and monthly rent deposits and housing cost loans, along with other housing-related welfare service information.
