[Featured Stock] Expherics Rises on News of Domestic NPU Use in "National AI Computing Center"... FuriosaAI Investment in Focus

Expherics has been strong for the second consecutive day. It is seen as being highlighted as an investment play after FuriosaAI was mentioned in connection with news that the government will equip the “National AI Computing Center,” which is being built as the largest artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in Korea, with a domestically produced NPU (neural processing unit).

As of 2:36 p.m. on the 11th, Expherics was trading at 3,685 won, up 7.59% from the previous day. The stock hit its upper price limit the previous day.

According to the industry, the government is reportedly planning to install a domestic NPU in the National AI Computing Center, which is regarded as the country’s largest AI infrastructure. This move is interpreted as a strategy to reduce dependence on Nvidia, which has dominated the market with its graphics processing units (GPUs), and to diversify AI infrastructure. In Korea, companies capable of producing NPUs include FuriosaAI and Rebellions.

FuriosaAI is a leading Korean fabless startup that develops “Renegade,” a data center AI inference chip, and is once again drawing broad industry attention amid a renewed wave of AI infrastructure investment led by global big tech companies.

Meanwhile, Expherics is known as an early investor in FuriosaAI, having participated in its Series A and B funding rounds through its affiliate Intellectual Discovery (ID), and has maintained the relationship by also taking part in the subsequent Series C round.

Intellectual Discovery, as both a shareholder of FuriosaAI and its IP advisory firm, has continued to provide domestic and overseas patent advisory services and licensing cooperation. Through this follow-on investment, the two companies plan to further strengthen their partnership and jointly pursue the expansion of AI-based IP business and the advancement of their revenue structures.
