GS Engineering & Construction Files Patent for Panoramic View Design...First Adoption in Seongsu District 1

GS Engineering & Construction announced on the 11th that it has developed a structural design technology that enables panoramic views, completed the patent application, and plans to apply it for the first time to District 1 of the Seongsu Strategic Maintenance Zone.

The patented design technology, titled "View-Securing Structure for Corner of Multi-Family Housing," features a reconfiguration of the columns installed at the building corners and the application of a reinforcing structure to the lower exterior section, thereby maximizing indoor views while securing structural stability.

In conventional multi-family housing, columns are placed at the corners for structural safety, which limits window size and partially blocks the view. The "panoramic view-enabled structure" removes the corner columns to minimize visual obstruction, making it possible to achieve an approximately 20-25% improvement in the viewing range compared with existing designs. At the same time, structural stability is secured by applying reinforcing structures to the lower exterior section to withstand loads and by increasing the contact area between columns and slabs to improve load transfer efficiency.

Going forward, GS Engineering & Construction plans to selectively apply this newly patented panoramic view-enabled structural design technology, focusing on complexes that enjoy superior views as a locational advantage.

A GS Engineering & Construction official stated, "With the development of this 'View-Securing Structure for Corner of Multi-Family Housing' technology, it has become possible to adopt a design that secures both structural safety and view rights from the design stage," adding, "We chose Seongsu District 1 as the first complex in order to fully leverage its locational advantage of having excellent views of the Han River."
