Gyeonggi Province has established and is implementing a comprehensive plan consisting of 20 detailed measures across four areas: livelihood stabilization, safety and health, culture and welfare, and transportation and convenience during the Lunar New Year holiday.
First, to stabilize prices during the Lunar New Year, Gyeonggi Province will operate a "Price Countermeasure Task Force" together with 31 cities and counties in the province. The task force will monitor prices of high-demand holiday items and intensively inspect violations of commercial order such as excessive price hikes and breaches of measurement regulations.
To support local small business owners and ease the burden on residents' household spending, the province will also provide local currency incentives. Gyeonggi local currency will be discounted by a minimum of 8% and up to 20%, depending on the city or county. The purchase limit will also be increased to up to 2 million won per person.
On the Gyeonggi Province social economy online shopping mall 031# (Gongsamil Shop), a discount promotion of 20% to 30% will run until the 22nd of this month. On Market Gyeonggi, as well as in large discount stores and local food stores, 30% discount coupons will be offered until the 16th for agricultural, livestock, and fishery products, as well as flowers produced in Gyeonggi Province.
Gyeonggi Province will inspect illegal manufacturing and distribution of adulterated or substandard food at manufacturers, processors, and sellers of high-demand holiday items, as well as at medium and large discount stores and restaurants. Guidance and inspections will also be carried out on use-by dates, hygiene, and country-of-origin labeling. To prevent the spread of livestock infectious diseases such as African swine fever, the Disease Control Headquarters will also operate 24 hours a day.
During the Lunar New Year holiday, 73 emergency medical institutions and public health centers in 31 cities and counties will operate emergency medical situation rooms. Information and locations for 11,373 clinics and hospitals and 7,961 pharmacies that remain open will be provided through call centers (031-120, 129), the 119 emergency situation control center, the emergency medical portal (E-GEN), and the emergency medical information mobile app.
Gyeonggi Province will offer free admission during the Lunar New Year holiday to the following institutions: Gyeonggi Provincial Museum, Nam June Paik Art Center, Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Silhak, Namyangju Municipal Museum, Anyang Museum, Hwaseong Independence Movement Memorial, Yeoju Museum, and Jeongok Prehistory Museum. They will be closed on Lunar New Year's Day (February 17).
Discounts will also be offered on professional sports games for seniors aged 70 and older and for persons with disabilities. Home games of professional volleyball in Suwon and Hwaseong, and professional basketball in Yongin and Anyang, can be watched for 1,000 won per ticket through each club's official website or on-site purchase.
As a special measure for vulnerable groups during this Lunar New Year, Gyeonggi Province will provide emergency heating cost support. Starting from the 12th of this month, it will sequentially provide 50,000 won per household to 341,530 households, including basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income households, and between 600,000 won and 2 million won per facility to 17 homeless shelters.
Gyeonggi Province will operate a special transportation countermeasure situation room during the Lunar New Year holiday and flexibly operate public transportation. Intercity bus services will be increased from the current 277 trips to 406 trips, and urban railways including the Uijeongbu Light Rail Transit, Line 7 (Bucheon section), and Lines 5 and 8 (Hanam Line and Byeollae Line) will extend late-night operations until 1:00 a.m. for two days on the 17th and 18th.
For city and village buses, the last bus will be extended by one hour according to the circumstances of each city and county, and real-time traffic information will be provided through the Traffic Information Center website and private portals such as T Map and Kakao Map.
In addition, from midnight on the 15th until midnight on the 18th, for four days, tolls will be waived on three privately funded roads in the province: the West Suwon-Uiwang Expressway, the 3rd Gyeongin Expressway, and Ilsan Bridge. During this period, approximately 1.39 million vehicles are expected to use these roads.
