Korea's First Private Sector-Led Cooperation Model
CJ ENM announced on the 10th that it has launched the "AI Content Alliance" together with AI small and medium-sized production companies and educational institutions to build an artificial intelligence (AI) content industry ecosystem. This is the first private sector-led cooperation model in Korea aimed at fostering an AI content industry with global competitiveness.
The launch ceremony was attended by Kim Jaehyun, policy chief for Culture and Media Industry at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as well as CJ ENM and a total of 13 companies, including startups that have won awards at domestic and international AI film festivals and content production companies. A total of five educational institutions, including universities focused on nurturing talent in the AI content media field, also took part. Going forward, the alliance plans to expand participation to media and technology companies both in Korea and overseas.
In his congratulatory remarks, Policy Chief Kim Jaehyun said, "The AI Content Alliance is a starting point for seeking new creative opportunities by combining AI content technology with content, and for leaping forward as a global AI content hub," adding, "We will support private-sector innovation through timely support and investment, and establish an institutional foundation that enables continued cooperation and a virtuous cycle."
The AI Content Alliance will carry out joint activities around five key cooperative tasks: expanding the production of differentiated AI content; research and development (R&D) of specialized technologies; nurturing professional talent; expanding domestic and international distribution platforms; and building a policy foundation. Within this year, it plans to design a talent development program optimized for the AI industry through an ad hoc industry-academia consultative body and introduce it at educational institutions. For joint production projects, the alliance aims to kick off in the second half of the year and will match participating companies through regular meetings such as workshops.
Through this alliance, CJ ENM will accelerate on-site AI content experimentation and the implementation of joint projects. The company plans to establish a cooperative model in which small and medium-sized production companies and educational institutions can grow together, thereby laying the foundation for the sustainable growth of the AI content industry.
Yoon Sanghyun, CEO of CJ ENM, said, "Behind the K-content industry, which is leading the global market, there has been a well-balanced ecosystem built on the efforts and determination of a wide range of industry players," adding, "Through this alliance, CJ ENM will swiftly build a cooperative AI content ecosystem that connects production, technology, distribution, talent, and policy, and contribute to Korea's leap forward as an 'AI cultural powerhouse'."
