Ahn Gyubaek Proposes Defense and Defense Industry Cooperation
Khalid: "Future-Oriented Strategic Partnership"
Ahn Kyubaek, Minister of National Defense, visited the 3rd Saudi World Defense Show (WDS) held in Riyadh on the 8th (local time) at the official invitation of Saudi Arabia. Provided by the Ministry of National Defense.
Minister of National Defense Ahn Gyubaek, who is visiting Saudi Arabia, held talks on the 8th (local time) with Saudi Minister of Defense Khalid bin Salman Al Saud. The defense research institutes of the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation in defense research and development.
According to the Ministry of National Defense, this MOU was prepared to establish a joint cooperation framework between the two countries in the fields of research and development, defense technology, and system innovation. The two ministers assessed that they had laid the foundation for a future-oriented strategic partnership for mutual benefit.
Minister Ahn noted that the Republic of Korea is a key partner country for "Saudi Vision 2030" and proposed the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in defense and the defense industry. He then requested that Minister Khalid visit Korea within this year to further strengthen cooperation.
In response, Minister Khalid expressed his appreciation for Minister Ahn's visit, saying, "Saudi Arabia and Korea are in a future-oriented strategic partnership." He added that he hopes Korea's outstanding technological capabilities and experience will contribute to strengthening Saudi Arabia's defense capabilities.
Meanwhile, at the official invitation of the Saudi side, Minister Ahn visited the 3rd Saudi World Defense Show (WDS) held in Riyadh and toured the exhibition halls of Korean defense companies. The WDS will run in Riyadh until the 12th. This year, about 700 companies from 80 countries are participating, making it one of the largest editions ever.
