20 Measures Across 4 Key Areas
Ensuring Safety and Convenience for Citizens and Tourists
Sacheon City in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 9th that it will implement the "2026 Lunar New Year Holiday Comprehensive Plan" so that citizens, returning visitors, and tourists can spend a safe and comfortable holiday period.
This plan consists of 20 measures across four areas: a generous holiday without worries about shopping baskets, a warm holiday filled with kindness, a comfortable and safe holiday, and a seamless, convenient, and happy holiday.
In particular, the Lunar New Year Holiday Comprehensive Situation Room will operate for five days from the 14th to the 18th, with 119 staff members from 11 departments working under the leadership of the vice mayor, in order to respond swiftly in the event of an emergency.
First, to ensure a "generous holiday without worries about shopping baskets," Sacheon City will set up a Price Countermeasure Comprehensive Situation Room and operate joint inspection teams to focus on managing prices of key Lunar New Year items and to establish sound distribution order, including proper indication of the origin of agricultural and marine products.
In addition, to ensure a stable energy supply, the city will conduct safety inspections of gas and electrical facilities, have 27 LPG retail outlets participate in a rotating business schedule, and carry out intensive inspections and guidance to resolve delayed wage payments.
Second, the city will promote measures for a "warm holiday filled with kindness." It will visit and extend support to vulnerable neighbors and social welfare facilities that may feel relatively isolated during the holidays, strengthen safety management by inspecting senior center facilities in advance, and check emergency safety assurance service equipment to ensure preparedness for emergencies involving seniors living alone.
The city will also prepare meal support measures for children at risk of missing meals due to the absence of meal providers during the Lunar New Year holiday, so that everyone can share a warm holiday together.
Third, to ensure a "comfortable and safe holiday," the city will operate a 24-hour Disaster and Safety Situation Room to enable rapid dissemination of disaster information and establish an initial response posture, while conducting safety inspections of facilities vulnerable to fire.
Furthermore, to provide a safe road environment, the city will carry out comprehensive inspections and maintenance of road facilities and operate emergency duty teams during the holiday period to respond to civil complaints related to daily life. It will also conduct safety inspections of public transportation facilities and lift taxi operation restrictions within the city to minimize traffic congestion.
In response to the recent issuance of a "Caution" level wildfire warning, the city will operate a Wildfire Prevention Countermeasure Headquarters to thoroughly prepare for wildfires, and it plans to operate public healthcare institutions and emergency medical services during the holiday to prevent any medical service gaps.
In addition, due to the recent occurrence of African swine fever, the city will organize emergency duty teams and do its utmost to implement preventive quarantine measures, including comprehensive disinfection of pig farms and slaughterhouses within the jurisdiction.
Lastly, to ensure a "seamless, convenient, and happy holiday," the city plans to provide returning visitors with a clean urban environment by conducting safety inspections at major tourist attractions, maintaining public restrooms, and carrying out environmental cleanup activities.
To prevent civil complaints caused by household waste, the city will give advance notice that waste will not be collected during the holiday from the 15th to the 17th, and it will minimize inconvenience to citizens by operating a Comprehensive Situation Room and a mobile repair team to respond to any water supply accidents.
Mayor Park Dongsik said, "During the Lunar New Year holiday, we will maintain a swift response system to reduce inconvenience for citizens and increase their happiness, doing our utmost to create a warm holiday," adding, "I sincerely hope that this holiday will be filled with happiness and laughter in every citizen's home."
