Candidate list to be reported to Supreme Council during Lunar New Year holidays
The People Power Party plans to unveil its new party name, a key task in its party reform drive, as early as March 1.
Park Sunghoon, chief spokesperson of the People Power Party, met with reporters at the National Assembly on the 7th and said, "If we proceed according to the current schedule after discussions, we will likely be able to announce the new party name around March 1," adding, "We are working toward that date as our target."
The revision of the party name has been pursued as part of the party reform plan put forward by party leader Jang Donghyuk in early January. During the upcoming Lunar New Year holidays, the party plans to use the opinions gathered so far to narrow down multiple candidate names and then formally report them to the Supreme Council.
In a recent party-name contest open to the public, many of the proposed names included words such as "People," "Freedom," "Republic," "Future," "New," "Innovation," "Conservative," "Our," and "Together."
