According to The Sun on the 5th (local time), Niamh Huff, who runs a cleaning company in Warrington, UK, recently revealed her week’s work record and earnings on her social media.
She described it as "an example of how much you can earn in a week doing cleaning work," and provided detailed information on her daily working hours and income.
Earns 2 million won in a five-day workweek...Detailed work record disclosed
According to the weekly work log Huff released, the day she earned the most during the five days was Monday. She worked from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and earned 268 pounds (about 530,000 won). The day she earned the least was Thursday, when she worked relatively shorter hours, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., bringing in 138 pounds (about 270,000 won).
By working about 5 to 9 hours a day, she earned a total of 1,014 pounds (about 2.02 million won) in a week, an amount that far exceeds the typical starting salary for university graduates or the average pay for ordinary office workers in the UK.
Huff introduces herself as a "sparkle specialist" and stresses that cleaning work is a profession with sufficient expertise and profitability.
"Just a cleaner?" She directly challenges that view...A message against prejudice
However, behind this pride lies the difficulty of constantly having to confront the low social perception surrounding cleaning work. In another video she posted, she explained that, regardless of her earnings, she has experienced being looked down on at work simply because of her job.
In a video filmed inside a car, she overlaid the caption, "When someone says to me, 'You’re just a cleaner,'" expressing her displeasure at the disparaging view of her occupation.
In the video, she lip-syncs to the lyrics of Selena Gomez’s hit song "Same Old Love," singing, "You can’t take back what you said," and "I’ve heard it all before, at least a million times."
Once the video was posted on TikTok, a short-form platform, online users responded in the comments with messages such as "Every job deserves respect," "Without cleaning labor, many spaces could not operate," and "Your confident stance against prejudice is impressive," expressing their support and encouragement.
