A representative of the Gyeongbuk Education Companion Forum said, "Two polling agencies will each survey 1,000 respondents, and support ratings will be determined based on the average."
On the afternoon of the 5th, former President Kim and former Superintendent Ma held an online forum via a live YouTube broadcast and exchanged views on various pending issues surrounding the Gyeongbuk education field.
At the forum, Gyeongbuk Education Companion Forum Standing Co-Chairs Kim Sangdong and Ma Sookja participated as panelists and shared their experiences and perspectives, focusing on questions raised in schools. Rather than presenting specific conclusions or positions on current issues such as school mergers and closures, the problem of closed schools, and students with migrant backgrounds, the forum proceeded in a format that shared the concerns of the education field through on-site Q&A.
Former President Kim served as a professor in the Department of Mathematics at Kyungpook National University and held key posts such as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Director of Planning before serving as president for four years starting in 2016. He is currently the head of the Gyeongbuk Lifelong Talent Education Foundation, a public institution under North Gyeongsang Province. Former Superintendent Ma began her career as an elementary school teacher in the Gyeongbuk region and went on to serve as Director of Elementary Education at the Gyeongbuk Office of Education, Principal of Andong Elementary School, and Superintendent of Education in Gimcheon. In 2002, she ran for Gyeongbuk Superintendent of Education, winning 27.7% of the vote but finishing second and losing the race.
