Mixed Doubles Curling Pair Kim Sunyoung and Jung Youngseok Suffer Second Straight Loss in Preliminaries

The mixed doubles curling pair of Kim Sunyoung and Jung Youngseok has fallen into a two-game losing streak in the preliminaries of the 2026 Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics.


On the 5th (local time), Kim Sunyoung and Jung Youngseok lost 4-8 to Italy's Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner in their second preliminary game, held at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy.

Earlier, in their first preliminary game, Kim Sunyoung and Jung Youngseok also suffered a heavy 3-10 defeat to Sweden's sibling pair Isabella Wranaa and Rasmus Wranaa.


They have slipped into a losing streak after facing strong teams in the early stages of the preliminaries one after another. Their first opponents, Isabella Wranaa and Rasmus Wranaa, are the team that won the 2024 World Championship, and their second opponents, Stefania Constantini and Amos Mosaner, are the strong pair that won the gold medal at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.


In mixed doubles curling, 10 teams play a round-robin preliminary phase, and the top 4 teams advance to the semifinals, where the final standings are determined.


Kim Sunyoung and Jung Youngseok will play their third preliminary game against Switzerland at 3:05 a.m. on the 6th.
