Inspection of Aging Facilities and New Course Safety
Revamping the Park Golf Course for Resident-Centered Experience
Yecheon County has launched an on-site inspection to improve the operation of Hancheon Park Golf Course, a flagship everyday sports infrastructure in the region. The initiative goes beyond simple facility maintenance, with a focus on "qualitative advancement" to enhance what residents actually experience.

The county announced that on the 5th it visited Courses 1, 2, and 3 of Hancheon Park Golf Course in sequence to check on supplementation needs for aging facilities and operational difficulties, and to comprehensively review the safety and completeness of the newly built course. Resolving user inconvenience and creating a pleasant playing environment are the core goals of this inspection.
For Courses 1 and 2, which were built in 2016 and 2020 respectively, discussions centered on reinforcing convenience facilities and ancillary infrastructure, while for Course 3, which was added last year, a detailed inspection was conducted focusing on course safety and the finishing condition of the facilities.
Hancheon Park Golf Course currently has a total of 54 holes, making it one of the largest in the North Gyeongsang region. It is evaluated as contributing to revitalizing the local commercial district by securing the infrastructure needed to host nationwide tournaments, thereby attracting club members and increasing the number of visitors who stay in the area.
In particular, the newly built 18-hole Course 3 has strengthened both strategy and enjoyment by introducing undulation and various obstacle elements. A key feature is that it has been designed not just as a simple leisure-type course, but as a "tournament course" with professional-level design and gameplay. The county plans to conduct trial operations in February and officially open it in April.
Yecheon County Governor Kim Hakdong said, "Hancheon Park Golf Course is a facility competitive enough to host national tournaments," adding, "We will develop it into a premium everyday sports space that combines performance, safety, and user convenience through continuous facility improvements and systematic management."

Meanwhile, the county plans to expand park golf programs in cooperation with the Yecheon County Sports Council and to broaden the base of resident participation by simultaneously providing touring everyday sports education in towns and townships, including sports such as gateball.
Everyday sports facilities are an indicator of a city's "level of everyday welfare." Expanded to 54 holes, Hancheon Park Golf Course is establishing itself as a symbolic space for Yecheon’s healthy city strategy. When on-site inspections are combined with meticulous management, sports infrastructure becomes a source of regional competitiveness. Expectations are rising as to whether Yecheon’s changes will translate into tangible improvements in residents’ daily lives.
