Namyangju Dasan New Town 'Jingeon District' Finally Completed on the 4th

The Namyangju Dasan Jingeon Public Housing District, which Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH) has been promoting as the sole project implementer, has been fully completed.

The Dasan Jingeon District reached final project completion as of December 31, 2025, after phased completions following the first-phase completion in June 2018, and the process was wrapped up with Gyeonggi Province’s completion announcement on the 4th.

Dasan New Town is a new town developed on a 4.75 million square meter site in Dasan-dong, Namyangju City, and consists of the Jingeon and Jigeum districts.

Despite poor conditions in the early stages of the project, it was successfully completed in just 15 years, faster than other housing sites, and has been transformed into a stable city where around 100,000 people now reside.

Dasan New Town has established itself as a key hub city representing northern Gyeonggi Province, standing shoulder to shoulder with Gwanggyo New Town in southern Gyeonggi Province, which was also developed by GH.

GH’s unique, differentiated spatial philosophy is embedded throughout the city.

Representative examples include the “resident-participatory urban design” inspired by the Eight Scenic Views of Dasan, the “Dasan Spatial Welfare Home,” which utilizes idle spaces in public rental housing as community hubs, and “Gyeonggi Unity,” a space dedicated to restoring a community culture of living together.

In particular, even after project completion, GH continues to push ahead without interruption with regional return projects that expand living infrastructure in order to continuously improve residential conditions for occupants. This is to faithfully fulfill its responsible role as a public developer, going beyond simple land development.

In 2021, GH received a plaque of appreciation from the general council representing residents of Dasan New Town in recognition of its “contribution to the development of Dasan New Town through active communication and dedicated efforts.”

GH President Kim Yongjin said, “From the planning stage to completion, Dasan New Town is a city that embodies GH’s unique know-how and philosophy,” adding, “GH’s successful experience proven in Dasan will be carried forward in an innovative way to the third-phase new towns currently under development.”

The Jigeum District, another pillar of Dasan New Town, is accelerating project implementation with the goal of completion by the end of 2027.
