On the 31st (local time), President Trump spoke with reporters aboard his private plane, Air Force One, and mentioned negotiations with Denmark. He stated, "We have started negotiations," and added, "I believe it will be a very important agreement that will be good for everyone."

According to the transcript released by the White House, President Trump said, "It seems that an agreement has been reached successfully," and reiterated, "I think it will be a good deal for everyone." He further emphasized, "From a national security perspective, this is a truly important deal," and added, "I believe we will be able to reach an agreement on that point."

However, President Trump did not specify what kind of agreement might be reached or provide any details.

Recently, the United States and Denmark have begun high-level working-level talks to resolve conflicts surrounding Greenland. On the 29th, Lars Lokke Rasmussen, Denmark's Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated after launching the high-level talks, "The talks proceeded in a very constructive atmosphere, and additional meetings are scheduled," adding, "Tensions had been rising, but now things are back on track, and the situation is more optimistic than it was a week ago." However, he also clarified, "The situation is not resolved," and explained, "As we have stated several times, we share the United States' security concerns regarding the Arctic region, and this is an issue we intend to address through close cooperation."

Earlier this year, shortly after President Trump launched a surprise operation to oust Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, he stated that he would not rule out the use of force to annex Greenland. This remark caused a stir among NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) member states in Europe, who are key allies. Greenland is an autonomous territory of Denmark, which is a NATO member. Subsequently, during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, a framework for an agreement was established during a meeting between President Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and the matter was settled with a direction toward resolution through negotiations.

While the authorities in Denmark and Greenland maintain that any discussion of transferring sovereignty in any form is not possible, President Trump stated, "We are negotiating the details, but essentially, it is about full and permanent access to Greenland," adding, "We will have all the military access we desire."

Meanwhile, President Trump also reiterated a warning regarding economic cooperation between Canada and China on this day. He stated, "I do not want China to take control of Canada," and emphasized, "If Canada reaches an agreement with China, we will take very significant action."

Previously, after Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney recently visited China and held a summit with President Xi Jinping, where the two countries decided to form a strategic partnership, President Trump warned that the United States would impose a 100% tariff on Canada.
