On January 30 at around 9:46 a.m., the commission announced that it had received a report regarding a personal information leak related to the Seoul Public Bike (Ddareungi) service, which is operated by the Seoul Facilities Corporation, and has launched an investigation.
After being notified by the police that there were indications of Seoul Public Bike (Ddareungi) member information being leaked, the Seoul Facilities Corporation reported the incident to the commission in accordance with relevant laws.
The commission plans to use this investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident and whether any personal information was leaked. It will review whether the Personal Information Protection Act was violated, and if any violations are confirmed, the commission will take action in accordance with relevant laws.
Meanwhile, according to Seoul City and the police on the same day, the Seoul Facilities Corporation received a phone call from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Cyber Investigation Unit on January 27, informing them of suspected leakage of Seoul Public Bike (Ddareungi) member personal information. The leaked information includes member IDs and mobile phone numbers. The police are currently investigating the scale, scope, and potential damage caused by the leak.
