"Synergy Expected with High-Dose Vitamin C Injection 'Meritz-C'"
Huons will begin domestic sales of in vitro diagnostic medical devices capable of measuring blood vitamin C concentration and G6PD (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase) levels.
Huons announced on the 30th that it has recently signed an exclusive domestic distribution agreement with the in vitro diagnostics startup Laple for the "Dr. Laple R1 Analyzer" and three types of test strips.
The Dr. Laple R1 Analyzer is an in vitro diagnostic device that has received Class 1 medical device approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Depending on the type of strip used, it can measure either G6PD levels or blood vitamin C concentration, and test results are available in about four minutes.
The G6PD test is mandatory before administering high-dose vitamin C injections, as patients with a deficiency of this enzyme are at risk of side effects such as hemolytic anemia when given high doses of vitamin C. The blood vitamin C concentration test is used to numerically confirm the effects before and after administration.
Huons plans to expand the distribution of the testing devices, focusing on hospitals and clinics that use its high-dose vitamin C injection, "Meritz-C."
