Firefighters Dispatched After Wife's Emergency Call
A man in his 40s was found unconscious after a fire broke out in a single-family house in Hwasun, South Jeolla Province.
According to Hwasun Police Station and fire authorities, at around 4:20 a.m. on January 30, a fire occurred in the boiler room of a single-family house located in Yonggok-ri, Baeka-myeon, Hwasun County, South Jeolla Province.
The fire partially destroyed the house, and Mr. A (46), who was inside, was found unconscious by firefighters and was urgently transported to a university hospital in Gwangju. Mr. A is currently reported to be in critical condition.
At the time of the fire, there were three people in the house: Mr. A, his wife, and their child.
According to police, the wife, Ms. B, who reported the incident, stated, "I evacuated outside with my husband and child, but when I got out, my husband was nowhere to be seen."
Firefighters who responded to the scene found Mr. A collapsed inside the house during their search and rescued him.
The police and fire authorities believe the fire started in the boiler room and plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage through a joint inspection with the National Forensic Service and other agencies.
