Sales Begin at Local Cafes in Dubai
Shops Expand in Japan, Centered Around Shinjuku
'Dubai Jjondeuk Cookie,' developed in Korea and gaining popularity, has now landed in Dubai, spreading as a global dessert trend.
On the 29th, Yonhap News TV reported, citing local media such as Timeout Dubai, that a caf? in Dubai recently introduced the 'Dubai Chocolate Jjondeuk Cookie.'
This product is characterized by the use of pistachio spread, white chocolate, kunafa baked in butter, marshmallows, and cocoa powder. The price is 29 dirhams per piece, which is approximately 11,000 won. When related videos were released on social networking services (SNS) such as TikTok, responses included, "The Dujjonku, which was popular in Korea, has finally arrived in Dubai." Some comments also noted, "In Korea, it's called 'Dubai Jjondeuk Cookie,' but in Dubai, it's called 'Korean Jjondeuk Cookie.'"
This craze is also spreading to Japan. Since the 16th, promotional posts about caf?s selling Dujjonku have been continuously uploaded on social networking services (SNS) in Japan. In addition, since early this month, the keyword 'Dubai Jjondoku Cookie (ドバイ ジョンドゥククッキ)' has been increasingly mentioned on Japanese SNS, and the number of stores actually selling the product has reportedly grown. Caf?s in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo are introducing the product with hashtags like 'Korean trend' and 'Korean dessert,' and some posts show that they are selling it with Korean descriptions attached.
In particular, as images of domestic K-pop idols eating the cookie have spread through fan communities, interest among K-pop fans in Japan is reportedly rising even further. There is a growing consensus that 'Dubai Jjondeuk Cookie,' which originated in Korea, is establishing itself as a global dessert trend by expanding into Dubai and Japan.
