"Killed in a Fit of Rage During an Argument"
A man in his 30s who was arrested for stabbing and killing his father, who was in his 60s, with a weapon in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, admitted to the crime, stating, "I killed him in a fit of rage during an argument."
According to Yonhap News on January 29, the Yangju Police Station is investigating a man in his 30s, referred to as Mr. A, on charges of parricide. Mr. A is suspected of killing his father, Mr. B, who was in his 60s, at a single-family home in Yangju, where they lived together, around 8 a.m. on January 26.
The investigation began after Mr. B's brother visited the house the day after the crime when he could not reach Mr. B, discovered his deceased brother, and reported it to the police.
It was found that immediately after the crime, Mr. A left the scene by car, abandoned the vehicle at a park in Yangju, and then fled on foot or by taxi. For three days, he moved around the areas of Yangju, Uijeongbu, Seoul, and Bucheon without using his mobile phone. He was apprehended by the police on the night of January 28 after being tracked through closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and other means.
Mr. A stated that he did not have a good relationship with his father and that he committed the crime after becoming enraged when his father made disparaging remarks during their argument that day. The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A.
