Woman in Her 50s Caught Drunk Driving in Broad Daylight in Gwangju After Running Red Light in Front of Patrol Car Front view of Gwangju Bukbu Police Station.

A woman in her 50s was booked after being caught violating a traffic signal in front of patrolling police officers while driving under the influence of alcohol in broad daylight.


On January 29, Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced that it had booked a woman in her 50s, identified as Ms. A, without detention on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving) and is currently investigating her.


Ms. A is suspected of driving under the influence for approximately 2 kilometers, from in front of a restaurant in Yongbong-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju, to near the Unam 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center, around 4 p.m. the previous day.


According to the investigation, Ms. A was caught by a police officer patrolling the area after she violated a traffic signal at an intersection while driving.


When the police conducted a breathalyzer test, her blood alcohol concentration was found to be at a level warranting license suspension.

The police are investigating Ms. A to determine the exact circumstances of her drunk driving.
