British Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived in Beijing, China, on the 28th (local time), commencing a four-day official visit. This marks the first visit by a British prime minister to China in approximately eight years, since Theresa May in 2018.

According to China Central Television (CCTV), Prime Minister Starmer landed at Beijing Capital International Airport on the afternoon of the same day, making his first trip to China since taking office in January this year. He is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, until the 31st. Afterward, he will travel to Japan via Shanghai.

The delegation accompanying Prime Minister Starmer reportedly includes more than 50 representatives from various sectors of the UK, such as finance, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and culture.

Regarding Starmer's visit, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jia-kun stated, "Currently, the international situation is marked by both change and turmoil," adding, "As permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, it is in the common interest of both China and the United Kingdom, as well as for global peace, stability, and development, to maintain communication and strengthen cooperation."

Spokesperson Guo also emphasized, "The Chinese leadership will engage in in-depth discussions with Prime Minister Starmer on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest," and expressed hope that "this visit will serve as an opportunity to enhance political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, and promote the stable development of China-UK relations."
