Starts Official Duties on January 28
In Taeyeon, former Secretary for Self-Employed Workers at the Presidential Office, has been appointed as the fifth President of the Small Enterprise and Market Service.
According to the Small Enterprise and Market Service on the 28th, President In will officially begin his duties starting today.
President In previously served as the head of the Bupyeong Culture Street Merchants Association, co-chairman of the National Distribution Merchants Association, and president of the Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise and Self-Employed. He later became the Secretary for Self-Employed Workers at the Presidential Office, a position newly established in 2018.
Last year, President In was considered a leading candidate for the newly created position of Second Vice Minister at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. However, after it was revealed that he is the brother-in-law of broadcaster Kim Eo-jun, there was some public opposition.
A representative of the Small Enterprise and Market Service stated, "Based on President In's experience leading merchant organizations in the field and his track record of coordinating small business policies as Secretary for Self-Employed Workers at the Presidential Office, we expect him to faithfully serve as a bridge between the field and the government, thereby further enhancing the effectiveness of the agency's policy implementation."
