Vision AI specialist company Siseon AI announced on January 27 that its robotics subsidiary, UON Robotics, has completed the development and prototyping of its Leader Arm technology targeting the physical AI market, and plans to commercialize the technology based on these achievements.
UON Robotics’ Leader Arm technology is a platform specialized in collecting physical AI training data for collaborative robots, with a particular focus on universality and scalability. The company explained that this allows stable and customized application of the technology to meet the needs of various robotics companies’ products and on-site robot demand.
A representative from UON Robotics stated, “We have completed the development of the Leader Arm technology and finished all preparations necessary for commercialization. Accordingly, we are now focused on identifying customers and making a full-fledged entry into the physical AI market.” The representative added, “By providing customized products optimized for each client, we aim to secure a competitive edge in the next-generation physical AI market, while continuously advancing our technology to further strengthen our corporate competitiveness.”
Additionally, UON Robotics is working to expand the Leader Arm technology by developing a mobile manipulator that combines AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) technology with robotic arm technology. A mobile manipulator is a robot capable of moving autonomously, visually identifying, grasping, and manipulating objects. The company is currently developing a “dual-arm mobile manipulator” equipped with two robotic arms, aiming to complete a prototype by the end of this year. In particular, by applying the vision AI technology of its parent company, Siseon AI, the robot will be equipped with precise object recognition, collision avoidance, and hazard avoidance functions, thereby maximizing both performance and safety.
Leader Arm technology is a term used in robotics, remote operation, and humanoid fields, referring to a system that links a control arm (Leader), which is directly manipulated by a human, with a working arm (Follower) that performs actual tasks. In this system, the Leader Arm acts as an input device that collects data on human hand movements (such as angles and position information) via sensors, while the Follower Arm (robotic arm) replicates and reproduces the movements of the Leader Arm in real time to perform physical tasks. In other words, Leader Arm technology serves as a core interface for human-robot collaboration, reading the movements, force, and intentions of the human hand and extending or remotely replicating them as robotic physical tasks.
Traditionally, Leader Arm technology has been mainly used in hazardous environments where direct human work is dangerous-such as nuclear power plants, space maintenance, deep-sea exploration, and explosive ordnance disposal-as well as in fields requiring delicate and precise work, such as the medical, semiconductor, and display industries. Recently, however, it is gaining attention as a key technology for demonstration-based AI robots and humanoid learning that transfer human movements to robots. With the advancement of AI technology, especially physical AI, and the ability to conduct extensive data training through machine learning, Leader Arm technology is expected to further maximize robotic performance.
Meanwhile, market research firm Business Research Insights forecasts that the global remote operation and tele-robotics market will grow from an estimated value of $7.79 billion (approximately 11 trillion won) in 2026 to $22.46 billion (about 32 trillion won) by 2035, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.4% during this period. The global robotic arm market is projected to grow from $28.04 billion (around 40 trillion won) in 2024 at a CAGR of 12.6%, reaching $81.83 billion (about 118 trillion won) by 2032.
