National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Youngone Outdoor Sign MOU to Create K-Heritage Apparel

The National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Youngone Outdoor on January 27 at the headquarters of Youngone Trading Group in Myeong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, to promote the utilization and dissemination of K-Heritage. The institute aims to enhance the national image and promote Korean heritage by incorporating its cultural heritage materials into apparel product development.

The apparel produced through this collaboration will be used as the official uniform for on-site guides at the 48th UNESCO World Heritage Committee meeting, which will be held in Busan from July 12 to 29. It is also planned to be used as workwear for overseas field researchers dispatched by the institute.

To facilitate smooth work, the institute will provide Youngone Outdoor with more than 70,000 research records and related images in the fields of archaeology, art, and architecture, which have been accumulated since its establishment in 1969. Based on these materials, Youngone Outdoor will be responsible for design and product development. The company, which was the official sponsor of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, has previously contributed to the popularization of cultural heritage by launching collections such as the 'Hangul Day Commemorative Clothing Collection' and 'Hunminjeongeum Rounded Consonant T-shirts.'

Jongduck Lim, Director of the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, stated, "We will continue to collaborate with companies and organizations in various fields to create future value for national heritage."
