Sustained Growth by Expanding Beyond B2C to B2B Market
Fair Trade Group Stands Out with Victory in "Pizza Hut Franchise Fee" Case
Labor, Serious Accidents, and Criminal Law Drive Revenue Growth
YK Law Firm (Managing Partners Kang Kyunghoon and Kim Beomhan) maintained its position as the seventh-largest law firm in Korea last year, recording sales of 169.4 billion won.
On January 26, YK Law Firm announced that it had achieved sales of 169.4 billion won in 2025, based on value-added tax filings with the National Tax Service. This figure represents an increase of approximately 9.5% compared to the previous year's (2023) sales of 154.7 billion won.
Despite the downturn in the domestic legal market, YK Law Firm has managed to sustain its growth trajectory. This is attributed to its successful transformation from a focus on the individual (B2C) market to the corporate (B2B) legal market, resulting in qualitative growth.
The most notable performance came from the Fair Trade Group. Attorney Hyun Minseok (Judicial Research and Training Institute, 39th class) and others from YK Law Firm's Fair Trade Group led the "Korea Pizza Hut Franchise Fee Refund Lawsuit"-the most significant issue in the franchise industry-to victory, establishing a strong presence in the corporate legal market.
In this lawsuit, YK Law Firm represented 94 franchisees and succeeded in legally proving that the franchise fees collected by the headquarters without agreement constituted unjust enrichment. As a result, the Supreme Court finalized a ruling for the return of approximately 21.5 billion won, demonstrating the firm's capabilities in the highly competitive fair trade field and setting a new legal precedent in the franchise sector.
Especially with this Supreme Court ruling as a turning point, a series of refund lawsuits related to franchise fees involving major franchise brands are expected this year, raising market expectations. Leveraging its unique legal data and expertise accumulated through this victory, YK Law Firm is expected to secure leadership in upcoming large-scale corporate litigations, accelerating its growth in the fair trade sector.
Solid growth in the labor and serious industrial accident sectors-key areas of corporate risk management-also contributed to increased sales. Last year, YK Law Firm handled numerous cases involving unfair dismissal, wage disputes, and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act for large corporations and government agencies, providing practical solutions. The firm also strengthened its presence in the corporate legal market by hosting seminars on labor policy and serious accidents in collaboration with the Korea In-House Counsel Association, expanding its network with in-house legal professionals.
Proactive strategies in response to rapidly changing labor issues were particularly decisive. The firm formed the "Labor ESG·ESH Task Force," which includes Attorney Jo Inseon (40th class) and former Supreme Court Justice Kwon Soonil (14th class), to anticipate market changes such as the implementation of the Yellow Envelope Act and to establish proactive advisory solutions. This swift response led to a 30-40% surge in advisory requests from corporate clients, acting as a catalyst for growth.
The firm's traditional strength in criminal law also provided a strong foundation for B2B growth. The Criminal Law Group, led by former Chief Prosecutor Bae Seongbeom (14th class), deployed 19 attorneys with police investigation experience and more than 80 specialists to maximize early-stage investigative response. This systematic criminal defense capability helped reduce risks in corporate criminal cases such as embezzlement and breach of trust.
Managing Partner Kang Kyunghoon stated, "Last year marked the beginning of our transformation into a B2B law firm. This year, we aim to achieve both expansion and internal strengthening in the corporate business sector by leveraging our specialized expertise in areas such as fair trade and serious industrial accidents."
