The Incheon Seobu Police Station announced on January 26, 2026, that Son has been sent to the prosecution on charges of forcible molestation of a female district council member, identified as A, who belongs to the same party. Previously, A had filed a complaint with the police, claiming that "Son made unnecessary physical contact."

During the police investigation, Son reportedly denied the allegations, saying, "That never happened," and "I do not remember." Although he resigned from his position as party spokesperson when the controversy arose, he has maintained that the accusations are groundless.

The police concluded that the allegations against Son were substantiated, based on statements from A and other people present at the scene. A police official stated, "The people who were present at the drinking party have given consistent statements."
