Three Palestinians Killed in Gaza
Steve Witkoff, the United States Presidential Envoy, described his discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the Gaza peace plan as "positive and constructive."
According to Reuters on January 25 (local time), Envoy Witkoff stated on social media that day, "We agreed on the importance of continued cooperation on all significant regional issues." He further emphasized, "The United States and Israel maintain a strong and longstanding relationship based on close collaboration and shared understanding."
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the 20-point Gaza peace initiative proposed by President Donald Trump, as well as the second phase of the peace plan. President Trump, as part of a key procedure in the second phase, established the Gaza Peace Committee, which he personally chairs.
Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas had been engaged in the Gaza war for two years, but in October of last year, a ceasefire was agreed upon through President Trump's mediation. However, tensions have recently escalated again due to frequent incidents of violence by Jewish settlers targeting Palestinian residents in the West Bank, as well as terrorist attacks by Arabs targeting Israelis.
Amid these circumstances, Israel carried out gunfire and drone strikes in Gaza on this day. According to Palestinian health authorities, three Palestinians were killed and four were injured as a result.
