Hwasun County in South Jeolla Province announced on January 23 that it will hold resident briefings for landowners in the 2026 cadastral resurvey project areas from February 10 to 11.

The cadastral resurvey project is a national initiative aimed at correcting discrepancies between cadastral records, which were created over 100 years ago, and the actual current status of land. The goal is to prevent land boundary disputes and efficiently manage the national territory.

Through these briefings, Hwasun County plans to collect residents' opinions and secure the necessary consent to proceed with the project.

The briefings will be held in Cheonam 1 District and Hyosan 1 District in Dogok-myeon, as well as Icheon 1 District in Baekamyeon. The purpose and procedures of the project will be explained to landowners and stakeholders in these areas, and consent forms will be collected. The total area covered includes 1,199 parcels of land, amounting to 617,975 square meters.

If the consent rate of residents reaches two-thirds or more through these briefings, Hwasun County will be able to apply to Jeollanam-do Province for district designation. Afterward, the cadastral resurvey will be conducted, and the Boundary Determination Committee will review the results to update the cadastral records. This process is expected to have various benefits, including preventing land boundary disputes, protecting residents' property rights, and establishing a foundation for utilizing regional spatial information.

Lee Myunghwan, Director of the Civil Affairs and Welfare Division, stated, "This resident briefing is an important opportunity to directly hear and reflect the opinions of residents in the project areas," adding, "We will do our utmost to protect residents' property rights and prevent land boundary disputes through the cadastral resurvey project."
