Applications Accepted from January 23
Support of 140 Million KRW for 700 Cats
Gyeongsan City (Mayor Cho Hyunil) has begun accepting applications for the "2026 Urban Stray Cat Neuter (TNR) Project" in order to stably manage the stray cat population within the city and alleviate inconveniences for residents.
Applications will be accepted in person at the Gyeongsan Agricultural Technology Center starting from January 23, 2026. The total project budget is 140 million KRW, and the project aims to cover 700 cats.
Any citizen engaged in stray cat care activities within the city is eligible to apply. Applications will be reviewed comprehensively, considering priorities and on-site conditions, and the project will be carried out sequentially.
The stray cat neuter (TNR) project is an animal welfare initiative that aims to prevent uncontrolled breeding of stray cats and reduce various complaints such as noise and territorial disputes through the process of Trap-Neuter-Return.
Stray cats that have undergone neutering surgery experience improved health and reduced aggression, resulting in positive effects that contribute to creating an environment where people and animals can coexist harmoniously.
Cho Hyunil, Mayor of Gyeongsan, stated, "The stray cat neuter (TNR) project is an important initiative that can simultaneously resolve resident inconveniences and promote animal welfare," adding, "We ask for the active interest and participation of our citizens."
