Win-Win Cooperation and ESG Practices... Busan Port Authority Receives 'Rural and Fishing Community ESG Practice Recognition Plaque'

Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sanggeun) has been recognized for its efforts in promoting win-win cooperation with rural and fishing communities and implementing ESG initiatives.

On January 22, BPA announced that it had received the 'Rural and Fishing Community ESG Practice Recognition Plaque' from the Foundation for Large, Small, and Medium Enterprises and Agricultural and Fisheries Cooperation, in recognition of its achievements in rural and fishing community cooperation and ESG practices.

This award ceremony was organized by the foundation to acknowledge and promote the 2025 environment (E), social (S), and governance (G) activities of organizations, companies, and groups that have contributed to the development of rural and fishing communities.

Since BPA first contributed to the Rural and Fishing Community Win-Win Cooperation Fund in 2019, it has continued its initiatives for rural and fishing community cooperation and ESG practices. The cumulative contributions are expected to reach a total of 1.28 billion won by 2025.

The fund has been used for projects such as improving tourism infrastructure by supporting fishing village experience and recreation villages in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions, providing medical, daily life, and administrative services to island and fishing village residents through the 'Eobok Bus' project, holding promotional and tasting events for local seafood, and supporting meal services using local agricultural and marine products for local children's centers.

By participating in these projects, BPA has worked to expand the foundation for win-win activities in rural and fishing communities. This year, BPA plans to contribute a record 400 million won, reflecting its commitment to rural and fishing community cooperation and ESG management practices.

Song Sanggeun, President of Busan Port Authority, said, "I am pleased that our contributions to the development of rural and fishing communities through the Win-Win Cooperation Fund have been recognized," adding, "As a public institution, we will continue to engage in various win-win activities with the local community."
