At around 6:40 a.m. on January 23, a sports utility vehicle (SUV) driven by a man in his 60s, Mr. A, crashed into the security office building in an apartment complex in Howon-dong, Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi-do.

As a result of the accident, a security guard in his 70s who was inside the security office sustained facial lacerations and other injuries. He was transported to the hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
The accident occurred when the vehicle, while exiting the apartment parking lot, suddenly accelerated toward the security office building, which is located directly in front of the exit.
During the police investigation, Mr. A reportedly stated that he mistakenly pressed the accelerator pedal instead of the brake. There were no indications of drunk driving or driving without a license.
The police are checking whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol and are investigating the exact cause of the accident, including possible driver error or mechanical failure.
