One-on-One Feedback Sessions with Active Producers
Practical Talent Development Program Gains Popularity Beyond Simple Experience
A practical mentoring program, where active webtoon producers directly assess the works of aspiring creators and evaluate their debut potential, is delivering tangible results. Kakao Entertainment announced on January 23 that it held the '2025 Second Half Webtoon Feedback Day' for about thirty aspiring creators at its Pangyo office on January 21.
Webtoon Feedback Day is a talent development program held twice a year for university students participating in industry-academic cooperation and aspiring rookie authors. Going beyond simple tours or experiences, the program operates as an in-depth consulting session, where participants meet one-on-one with Kakao Webtoon producers to analyze the strengths and areas for improvement of their planned works. The program reviews not only the planning stage but also the story structure and market competitiveness according to the actual platform serialization standards, making it a practical debut route for those aiming to break into the industry.
The effectiveness of the program is being proven with concrete figures. Among the aspiring creators who participated in the Feedback Day in the first half of last year, three signed official serialization contracts with Kakao Entertainment after about five months of revision and supplementation following the event. Their works will be released through Kakao Webtoon and Kakao Page in the first half of this year.
This event also attracted strong interest. The open recruitment, which began on December 29, saw a significant increase in applicants compared to previous sessions. Including the six final selectees and university students in industry-academic cooperation, about thirty people participated in total. Participants were divided into four groups to explain the intentions behind their prepared works and received specific advice from producers on areas for improvement and the potential for serialization. One participant said, "Through immediate face-to-face feedback, I was able to identify weaknesses in my story structure and gain confidence about my debut."
A Kakao Entertainment representative stated, "Feedback Day helps creators objectively review their works and take the next step forward," adding, "We will continue to discover promising talents and provide substantial support."
