Overnight Firefighting in Osan-myeon, Gokseong: Wildfire 75% Contained

On the afternoon of the 22nd, a fire broke out in a mountain in Osan-myeon, Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, with smoke rising. Jeollanam-do Fire Headquarters, Yonhap News Agency

The wildfire that broke out in a mountain area in Osan-myeon, Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, has reached a containment rate of 75% after overnight firefighting efforts.

According to the forestry authorities on the 23rd, a fire started at a house in Osan-myeon, Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, at around 8:58 p.m. the previous day and spread to a nearby mountain area.

As a result of the fire, two houses and five hectares of forest-an area equivalent to about seven soccer fields-were destroyed. No casualties have been reported.

The forestry authorities declared Level 1 response and deployed 63 pieces of equipment and 374 personnel to continue the firefighting operation.

An official from the Jeollanam-do Fire Headquarters stated, "We are making every effort to extinguish the fire by mobilizing all available personnel."
