On January 21, comedian Lee Seungju, who was active on SBS's "Utchatsa," appeared on the YouTube channel "Jisangryeol's Designated Driver." When asked about his recent activities, Lee said, "I used to be a comedian, but now I am working to eradicate adulterers who destroy families in South Korea." Explaining how he started working as a private investigator, he said, "I am a victim of infidelity. My life was ruined after my wife cheated on me following 11 years of marriage." He also confessed, "I attempted to end my life six times."

He said that his wife's behavior changed when the affair began, explaining, "She started wearing underwear I had never seen before, suddenly told me to leave the house, and encouraged me to go out and meet friends-things she had never done before." He added, "She used to buy things for the kids instead of herself, but her personal spending kept increasing. The credit card bills doubled or tripled." When Lee asked his wife about her increased spending, she responded, "'Are you paranoid?' making me out to be the bad person."

Lee Seungju said that although he obtained evidence of his wife's infidelity through location tracking applications and other means, his life was already shattered. He recalled that when he was about to give up on life, he thought of his children and said, "I worked hard to raise my kids, delivering parcels during the day and working another part-time job at night. I raised them on my own."

Now certified as a private investigator, Lee said, "It used to be called a 'private investigation team,' but now private investigation has been legalized. It's like a private police force," emphasizing, "I want to speak up on behalf of victims of infidelity."

The private investigation industry, previously known as detective agencies, errand centers, or information agencies, was formalized on August 5, 2020, with the revision of the Credit Information Act. However, the scope of activities legally permitted is virtually the same as that of ordinary citizens, so collecting evidence or conducting surveillance for cases under investigation or trial can still be punishable by law.
