Reuters: "Buick Envision to Be Manufactured in Kansas City Starting in 2028"
General Motors (GM), the American automaker, has decided to shift production of the 'Buick Envision,' which is currently manufactured in China, to the United States, Reuters reported on January 22 (local time).

According to Reuters, GM will end production of the Buick Envision in China and plans to manufacture the next-generation model at facilities in the Kansas City area starting in 2028. GM stated, "This decision will strengthen GM's U.S. manufacturing and contribute to job creation."
GM has been producing the Buick Envision, a mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV), in China since 2017 and selling it in the U.S. market. The Buick Envision, along with Ford's Lincoln Nautilus, accounts for the majority of Chinese-made vehicles sold in the United States. The United Auto Workers (UAW) and political circles in Michigan have raised concerns about these models, citing the reduction of American jobs.
Last year, following the inauguration of Donald Trump's second administration, GM announced plans to invest over 5 trillion won in new funds over two years to expand its U.S. vehicle production base. As part of this plan, GM intends to produce the Chevrolet Blazer and Chevrolet Equinox, which are currently manufactured in Mexico, at its U.S. plants.
GM also produces the Trax Crossover and Trailblazer in South Korea. Among these, the Trax Crossover, which is produced exclusively in Korea, is a popular model with high sales in the United States. At last year's investor event, GM stated that it has no immediate plans to adjust production volumes at GM Korea.
