On January 23, the city of Siheung in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will accept applications for the "Child Household Clean Service Support Project," which aims to improve the living environments of low-income child households, until March 13.
This project provides support for low-income child households by improving their residential environment and hygiene through disinfection and pest control, wallpaper and flooring replacement, cleaning, and organizing storage. It also supplies household items such as air conditioners and heaters, air purifiers, washing machines, and dryers.
The program is open to households with children under the age of 18 who meet both housing and income criteria. The housing standards apply to residences smaller than 26 square meters for two-person households, 36 square meters for three-person households, 43 square meters for four-person households, and 46 square meters for five-person households. Households living in substandard housing types, such as semi-basement or rooftop homes, are also eligible.
The income criteria include recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security Program (covering livelihood, medical, housing, and education benefits), single-parent families, the near-poor, and households with an income at or below 100% of the median income. Households with high residential vulnerability, such as those with disabled members, are also eligible for support.
Selected recipients will receive both "clean services" and "essential household goods support." The clean services include mandatory disinfection and pest control, and recipients can choose two additional services from wallpaper and flooring replacement, cleaning, and storage organization. For household goods, recipients can select two items from home appliances such as air conditioners/heaters, washing machines, air purifiers, and dryers.
Applicants can apply through their local administrative welfare center or the Siheung City Housing Welfare Center. Required documents can be found on the notice boards of the Siheung City Hall website and the Siheung City Housing Welfare Center website. Selected recipients will be notified individually at the end of March.
A city official stated, "We will continue to expand customized housing welfare support so that children can grow up in a safe and respectful environment."
