Crime Motivated by Ex-Boyfriend's Jealousy
Emergency Call and Bodycam Footage Revealed in UK Court
Victim Testifies: "It Was Like a Sign from God"
Barron's Report from the US Led Police to the Scene Immediately
It was belatedly revealed that Barron Trump (20), the son of former U.S. President Donald Trump, helped rescue a female friend living in the United Kingdom by urgently reporting to local police after witnessing her being assaulted during a video call.
On January 22, Yonhap News, citing foreign media such as the New York Post, reported that during a trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London, Barron was identified as the key person who reported the assault. The incident occurred at around 2:23 a.m. on January 18 last year in London.

At the time, Barron received a video call from his female friend in the UK and witnessed her being assaulted by a man. He immediately called the UK emergency number '999,' informing authorities, "I just got a call from a girl I know, and she is being beaten." According to the emergency call transcript released in court, Barron provided the victim's address and repeatedly emphasized, "This is a really urgent situation. A man is hitting a woman." Bodycam footage released by London police also showed the process of verifying the caller's identity after officers arrived at the scene.
Initially, police only recognized that the report had come from the United States, but later obtained a statement from the victim saying, "I am friends with Barron Trump, the son of Donald Trump." In a verification call from police, Barron stated, "I answered the call expecting a friendly greeting, but I saw the ceiling on the screen and heard screams. I saw a man's head, and the camera showed a crying woman who was being beaten." Barron added, "The best thing I could do was to report it. I thought calling again and escalating the situation could make things even more dangerous."
The victim testified in court that Barron's report was "like a sign from God" and that "his actions were a huge help in saving my life." The perpetrator was identified as Matvey Rumyantsev (22), a Russian national and the victim's ex-boyfriend. He reportedly committed the crime out of jealousy over the victim's continued friendship with Barron. Rumyantsev has been charged with assault, two counts of rape, and obstruction of justice.
The victim claimed that Rumyantsev raped her twice: once in November 2024 and again on the day of the assault, January 18 last year. However, Rumyantsev's defense attorney has denied all charges, arguing that the victim's statements are "completely fabricated."
Barron Trump, born in 2006, entered New York University's Stern School of Business in September last year. Barron is the only son born to President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, and he has four half-siblings. He drew public attention when he entered the White House at the age of ten during his father's first term, and more recently has made headlines for his height, which exceeds 2 meters, and his striking appearance.
