Gyeonggi Provincial Library will hold an upcycling art exhibition titled "Jean-jja Clams Have Appeared," featuring works made from denim and mother-of-pearl, in the Re# (Resharp) space on the first floor of the library until February 8.
The library organized this exhibition to help residents naturally encounter the concepts of recycling and zero waste in their daily lives.
The artworks embody the idea of a circular process in which discarded resources are "reborn (Re)" with new value ("resurfacing," #), and anyone can freely view the exhibition without a reservation.
Through this exhibition, Gyeonggi Provincial Library aims to communicate the themes of climate and resource circulation in an accessible way, and to foster environmental sensitivity that residents can practice in their everyday lives. In particular, the library hopes the space will be used by families as an opportunity to naturally discuss the environment and consumption with their children.
Yoon Myunghee, Director of Gyeonggi Provincial Library, stated, "The library is not only a place for reading books, but also a public platform that shares social values and contemporary agendas with citizens. I hope this exhibition serves as an opportunity to deliver messages about the climate environment and sustainability in a friendly way."
Meanwhile, even after the exhibition ends, Gyeonggi Provincial Library plans to continue offering exhibitions and educational programs on the themes of climate environment and the circular economy, supporting residents in practicing sustainable consumption and resource circulation.
