Jangheung County in South Jeolla Province visited central government ministries in person to explain the necessity of local pending projects in order to secure national funding for the next year.

On the previous day, Jangheung County announced on January 22 that it had visited the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Cultural Heritage Administration, held meetings with officials, and requested that key regional projects be included in the 2026 government budget proposal.

On this day, Kim Seong, Mayor of Jangheung County, met with Park Changhwan, Director of Economic Budget Review at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Heo Min, Commissioner of the Cultural Heritage Administration, to explain the county’s major pending issues and emphasize the need for national funding support. Earlier, in early November, the county had visited the National Assembly to propose the inclusion of national funding for projects such as the creation of a Torreya forest landscape around Borimsa Temple, the development of Borimsa Temple as a tourism resource, and the establishment of the K-Nobel Literature Center.

During this visit to the central ministries, key issues discussed included the maintenance project around Borimsa Temple, the feasibility study service cost for the comprehensive development of Borimsa Temple, and the inclusion of a preliminary feasibility study for the four-lane expansion project between Sunji and Daedeok Yeonji in Jangheung.

Jangheung County plans to continue its lobbying activities with central ministries and the National Assembly until the review of the budget proposal is completed, focusing its administrative capacity on securing national funding.

Mayor Kim Seong stated, "Given the challenging fiscal conditions, government support is essential to promote projects that residents can truly feel," and added, "For the mid- to long-term development of Jangheung, I will continue to visit central ministries and the National Assembly and do my utmost to secure national funding."
