Kim Dongyeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, urged the People Power Party not to abandon its role as the opposition and to join in "Korea's Time."
On the 22nd, Governor Kim posted on his social networking service (SNS), "The 'Time of Korea' has begun," adding, "Yesterday, President Lee Jaemyung's New Year's press conference and the judiciary's first trial on insurrection have further raised the hopes of all citizens."
He continued, "Today, the KOSPI has finally reached the 5,000 mark," and assessed, "This is a shift from the Korea Discount to the Korea Premium, and a signal for the restoration of national dignity that had plummeted due to insurrection."
He also stated, "Our economy is forging ahead like a red stallion along a path never taken before," and expressed optimism by saying, "The value of our stock market remains undervalued, and with ample room for growth, if we also pursue structural changes in the economy, the foundation of our economy will become even stronger."
Governor Kim Dongyeon of Gyeonggi Province posted the following text and photo on his SNS on the 22nd.
In particular, he said, "The President's New Year's press conference was a remarkably clear declaration of 'Korea's Great Leap Forward,'" and evaluated, "Growth led by local regions, growth for all, and growth based on safety, culture, and peace are national strategies centered on people's livelihoods and a milestone for a major transformation to break the vicious cycle of low growth and polarization."
He further lamented, "While the President called for opening the future together through 'post-ideology, post-camp, and practical pragmatism,' the People Power Party is only focused on indiscriminate criticism," adding, "People's livelihoods and the economy have no place in the People Power Party's priorities."
He went on to say, "That is why constructive alternatives cannot possibly emerge," and added, "They are merely repeating old practices, labeling worker protection as anti-business and local investment as populism."
Governor Kim emphasized, "What the People Power Party needs most right now is the 'courage to change,'" and appealed, "Since the Lee Jaemyung administration's choice is a great leap forward for Korea centered on better lives for the people, I urge the People Power Party not to abandon its role as the opposition and to join in the dynamic 'Time of Korea' with constructive criticism and alternatives."
