Hanjin Converts Headquarters into 'Smart Office'... "Innovating Work Methods"

On January 22, Hanjin announced that it will convert its headquarters office in Hanjin Building, located in Jung-gu, Seoul, into a 'Smart Office.' This initiative aims to maximize employee work efficiency and accelerate innovation in working methods.

A Hanjin representative explained that the establishment of the Smart Office was planned to proactively respond to the rapidly changing business environment and evolving work trends.

The newly established Smart Office is designed to break down barriers between departments and promote an open structure centered on communication. At the same time, it features a balanced layout that protects individual privacy and fosters concentration.

In particular, to enhance employee satisfaction, the office has introduced 120-degree desks that provide a sense of openness, as well as reinforced partitioned individual workstations for those who value privacy.

The company is also committed to establishing a 'paperless' meeting culture in line with digital transformation (DX). All meeting rooms are equipped with large conference displays and back-painted glass (whiteboards), enabling efficient briefings and idea sharing without the need for printed materials.

The seat management system has also been streamlined through digitalization. Employees can check and reserve their preferred seats in real time via a mobile app or the internal system before arriving at the office or upon entry. This allows them to autonomously select seats optimized for their individual work schedules and the nature of their tasks for the day, thereby maximizing job autonomy. This spatial innovation is expected to lead to tangible work performance improvements and the successful adoption of flexible work arrangements.

Hanjin plans to go beyond simply introducing the Smart Office by strengthening its post-implementation management system to incorporate actual user feedback. The company will conduct regular monitoring and employee surveys to verify the effectiveness of office operations, and will continuously upgrade the space based on these findings to create an even 'smarter office.'

In addition to physical space innovation, Hanjin is actively integrating the latest IT technologies throughout its work processes. By adopting cutting-edge generative AI tools such as Gemini and ChatGPT for practical tasks, the company is streamlining work and enhancing its data analysis capabilities, thereby boosting the effectiveness of its digital transformation (DX) efforts.

A Hanjin representative stated, "The establishment of the Smart Office is a strategic decision to create an environment where employees can demonstrate their capabilities more freely and creatively," adding, "We will continue to strengthen our competitiveness in the rapidly changing logistics market by fostering a flexible organizational culture and smart work systems."
